OUR STORY

Bustin’ Out of Boise began with one woman who wanted to make a difference in the lives of other women. The organization has since grown into a passionate group whose mission is to support women who are undergoing cancer treatment. We walk alongside women, supporting them and their families with meals and household assistance.
Through our many partnerships with local and national companies, we are able to provide household services such as laundry, cleaning, homework help, in-home childcare, and healthy meals. Filling the gap gives these women time to focus on what matters most – their family and their well-being.

ABOUT

When Tami transferred to Boise from Phoenix working for Alaska Airlines, she started training for the Seattle three day, 60-mile walk to raise awareness for breast cancer. She asked her co-workers if anyone wanted to train with her and the only one that had stepped up at the time was Karen. Together they walked in Star and people began to noticed when they would lace up their shoes and hit the pavement to train. In 2009 Susie, helped rally their co-workers and raised money with their first Tie One On For The Cure BBQ getting the Boise Alaska Air call center behind them.

In January 2010 they had peaked an interest and gotten about thirteen people involved to start a team for the San Diego three-day walk. While training every Saturday they would discuss how to do more in the Treasure Valley and how to incorporate more woman in the area. Melanie and many others stepped up and created Bustin’ Outta Boise. They began to raise money for their walks. The more money they started to raise, the more they realized that they needed to find a way to keep the money in the Treasure Valley and to help local women fight this battle with cancer.

Whether it’s helping a loved one through the fight of their life or trying to navigate the complexity of treatment yourself, cancer impacts every one of us at some point in our lives. With the diagnosis come a myriad of large and small decisions. Most of these decisions cannot be taken lightly. But how does a person keep up with the daily tasks of life while fighting the battle with cancer?

We walk alongside women to support them and their families with meals and household help. We have partnered with Schwan’s to deliver meals that meet the size and desires of the family. In this way, moms are able to provide a home cooked and health dinner without planning and prepping. And through our partnership with Bright Star, we make available household services such as laundry, cleaning, homework and in home daycare. By filling the gap for these families, women are able to focus on what matters most – spending time with their family and getting well.

Please join our effort by donating today. Together, we can make a difference and stand in the gap for women in our community fighting for themselves and their families.
